I received my masters degree in social work from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana.
For ten years I worked as a staff therapist at one of the most prestigious psychiatric hospitals in the country. As a core therapist at the Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital, I gained an extensive background in treating depression, anxiety, and bipolar issues. I also specialize in working with gender and sexually diverse individuals
Currently in addition to my private practice, I teach classes on a variety of topics, including ways to improve communication, how to live a healthy more balanced life, and how to manage negative or unhelpful thoughts.
I am on the Board of Directors of Upswing Advocates, a nonprofit organization serving the mental health needs of the LGBTQIA community. I recently lectured on Personal Growth through Kink at the 2017 conference held by CARAS (Community-Academic Consortium for Research on Alternative Sexualities) and co-facilitate For Us, a monthly queer-affirming class addressing issues prevalent among the transgender community. You can find more information on this class here.
Fees can vary depending upon the type of therapy provided, insurance, and your financial need. As much as possible I will work with you to make therapy affordable. Aside from cash and checks, I also accept a variety of payment methods:
I can bill all insurances. I am in-network for Medicare and BlueCross BlueShield PPO.
I do accept Credit Cards.
In many cases I can accept PayPal, please talk with me before hand if you would like to use this option.
